Checkmate! In this fun and engaging beginner chess class designed specifically for pre-K players, young minds will explore the exciting world of chess through hands-on, interactive learning. Using storytelling, playful activities and a human-sized chess board, children will learn the basics of the game—how the pieces move, simple strategies, and the joy of thinking ahead. Taught in a warm and encouraging environment, this drop-off class is perfect for first-time players. An intentionally small class size allows for each child to receive plenty of guidance as they build focus, problem-solving skills, and confidence—all while having a blast. * MEET OUR INSTRUCTOR: ANTHONY FEDERICI * Anthony grew up playing chess and found success teaching adaptive chess to special education and elementary-age students. He graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and worked in special education for 18 years. Anthony is a certified National Scholastic Chess Foundation teacher, honed his chess program as one of the Directors of the afterschool program at the Park Avenue Elementary School, and is currently teaching chess at various schools including Somers Intermediate, Lefell Lower, Purchase Elem, Fox Meadow Elem, Old Greenwich, Bronxville and more. * 12:15PM FREE LUNCH BUNCH ADD-ON * To make transitions smoother and ensure our littles are fueled for success, we’ll open at 12:15PM for children to enjoy their packed lunch with their caregiver. Credits expire 6 months after issuance. Limit one credit per class, per session.
